How Can We Help?

Getting Started
What is FotoLab?
FotoLab is AI photo editing software that learns your personal editing style and applies it to your photos automatically. Think of it as having a tireless editing assistant that knows exactly how you like your photos to look.
What is the difference between FotoLab and a preset?
Everything. Presets apply the same fixed adjustments to every image regardless of what's in the photo. FotoLab's Mercury engine is intelligent software that learns to edit just like you do. It adapts Lightroom parameters to edit every individual image the way you would - adjusting for the light, the subject, and the scene.
Do I need Lightroom to use FotoLab?
Yes, FotoLab currently works alongside Adobe Lightroom Classic. You tag photos in Lightroom, train your style in FotoLab, and the edits sync back to Lightroom.
What platforms does FotoLab run on?
FotoLab is available for MacOS (Apple Silicon M1 and newer).
Windows support is on the way:
• Summer 2026: Windows 11 + Nvidia graphics cards
• Autumn/Fall 2026: Windows 11 + AMD graphics cards
We're also investigating support for Intel integrated graphics, and we'll share more as and when we know it. Join the Windows waiting list to be the first to hear.

What file formats do you support?
RAW. We support over 1,200 cameras and imaging devices - from the niche, such as Imacon scanners, to the mainstream such as Canon, Sony, and Nikon. Hasselblad? How could we forget Hasselblad.
How It Works
How does FotoLab learn my style?
You tag a set of photos you've already edited in Lightroom - the more, the better. FotoLab's AI engine, Mercury, studies how you edited those photos and builds a model of your unique style. Training takes about 60 seconds.
How do you integrate with Lightroom?
Through Lightroom keyword tags. To provide training images, simply add a keyword tag to them in Lightroom. FotoLab picks up that keyword and pulls in all the images associated with it. We designed it this way so you never have to maintain your photo selections in two places.
How many images do I need to train a model?
The more, the better. You can generate results with as few as 200 images. However, in our testing, models trained on upwards of 2,000 images perform significantly better. If you want to create a professional-grade model, we recommend using around 5,000 images.
I edit differently for different lighting situations - will this work for me?
Yes. This is our major technological advancement over other editing solutions. As our founder puts it: "I love to create bright and airy photos when light allows. But when shooting in low light, I don't want overly bright images that lose subject focus and create a lot of shadow noise. I found that other AI providers took an almost average of my style, which led to evening, night, and low-light photos being incorrect." Mercury understands context - it adapts to the scene, not just the style.
Can I create more than one style?
Absolutely. You can train as many different styles as you like - one for weddings, one for landscapes, one for portraits. There's no limit on any plan.
How fast is the editing?
As FotoLab does everything directly on your device, the better your device is, the faster it will be. But to give you a rough idea: using our team's machines, FotoLab edited 1,000 images in around 1 to 10 minutes. We expect most machines will take around 5 minutes (or, as our team call it, coffee time).
Privacy & Security
I don't trust AI - why should I trust FotoLab?
Your data never leaves your device - not for training, and not for editing. Ever. We love photography, and that's why we started this. We consider ourselves creatives, and what we're tired of is people stealing creativity and selling it at crazy prices. There are no shady terms and conditions, and there never will be. Your data and creative work are safe with FotoLab.
Are my photos uploaded to the cloud?
No. Everything happens entirely on your computer. Your photos, your style models, and your editing data never leave your device. Privacy isn't an add-on - it's how FotoLab is built.
Can FotoLab see or access my photos?
FotoLab processes your photos locally on your machine to learn your editing style. No images are ever sent to external servers, and no one at FotoLab can see your work.
Is my editing style stored on your servers?
No. Your trained AI style models are stored only on your computer. You have full ownership and control over them.
Style Ownership
Do I own the AI styles I create?
Yes, 100%. You can keep them private, share them with others, or even sell them. FotoLab takes no commission and claims no ownership over your style.
Can I share or sell my styles?
Yes. Your styles are yours to do with as you please. You could sell them to other photographers, share them with your team, or keep them entirely private.
Technical
Does FotoLab require an internet connection?
FotoLab works entirely offline for editing and training. An internet connection is only needed for initial download, updates, and account verification.
My edits don't look quite right. What can I do?
Try training with more photos - the AI gets better with more examples. Make sure your training photos represent the variety of scenes you typically shoot (indoor, outdoor, portraits, etc.).
What languages can I use with customer support?
Our customer support is available in English and Spanish. We will try to accommodate emails in other languages where possible.
