Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: 24th March 2026

FotoLab is committed to making our website accessible to everyone. This statement explains what we do, the standards we follow, and how to contact us if something isn't working for you.

1. Our Commitment

We believe that every person - regardless of ability, device, or situation - should be able to browse our website, learn about our products, and access all the information they need. We design and build our website following internationally recognised accessibility standards, and we continuously work to improve the experience for all users.

2. Conformance Standard

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, at Level AA. WCAG is a set of recommendations created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) - the organisation that sets web standards worldwide. Level AA is the standard recognised by accessibility laws in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It covers things like:

  • Making sure text has enough contrast against its background so it's easy to read.
  • Ensuring all features work with a keyboard, not just a mouse.
  • Providing text alternatives for images so screen readers can describe them.
  • Making sure the website works well when you zoom in or increase text size.
  • Keeping navigation consistent and predictable across all pages.

3. Assistive Technologies We Support

We design and test our website to work with the assistive technologies that people rely on every day.

Screen Readers

Screen readers are software that reads aloud what's on screen, helping people who are blind or have low vision navigate websites.

  • NVDA (free, Windows) - a popular open-source screen reader.
  • JAWS (Windows) - widely used screen reading software for desktop browsers.
  • VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) - Apple's built-in screen reader for Mac and iPhone.
  • TalkBack (Android) - Google's built-in screen reader for Android devices.

Keyboard Navigation

Every interactive element on this website - links, buttons, menus, and forms - can be reached and operated using only a keyboard.

  • Tab moves focus forward through the page; Shift + Tab moves backward.
  • Enter or Space activates buttons and links.
  • Escape closes menus and popups.
  • A "Skip to content" link appears when you first press Tab on any page, letting you jump past the navigation straight to the main content.

Browser Zoom

You can zoom in or increase text size and the website will adapt.

  • The website supports zoom up to 200% without losing content or functionality.
  • Text reflows properly at all zoom levels.
  • You can increase your browser's default text size and the layout will adjust.

Other Supported Features

We also support:

  • High contrast mode and custom colour settings in your operating system.
  • Speech recognition software (such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking).
  • Screen magnification tools.
  • Custom stylesheets and browser extensions for readability.

4. Accessibility Features Built Into This Website

Here's what we've built into the FotoLab website to support accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML - we use proper heading levels and meaningful page structure so screen readers can navigate easily.
  • ARIA labels - interactive elements like menus and buttons have descriptive labels that screen readers announce.
  • Reduced motion - if you have "reduce motion" turned on in your device settings, all animations are automatically disabled.
  • Focus indicators - when you navigate with a keyboard, a visible outline shows which element is currently selected.
  • Alt text on images - images include descriptions so screen readers can convey what's shown.
  • Responsive design - the website adapts to different screen sizes and works well on mobile devices.
  • Consistent navigation - menus and page layouts follow the same pattern across the site.
  • Language attributes - each page declares its language so screen readers use the correct pronunciation.
  • Skip to content - a link at the top of every page lets keyboard users jump straight to the main content.

5. Legal Framework

Our accessibility efforts are guided by the following legislation. All three point to the same core standard: WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

European Union - European Accessibility Act (EAA)

The EAA (Directive 2019/882) came into force on 28 June 2025 and requires digital products and services offered in the EU to meet accessibility standards. Our website follows the harmonised standard EN 301 549, which references WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

United Kingdom - Equality Act 2010

The Equality Act requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. The UK Government Digital Service recommends WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the standard for websites.

United States - Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The ADA prohibits discrimination based on disability. US courts and the Department of Justice recognise WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the standard for website accessibility under Title III of the ADA.

International

For users in other countries, we follow the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA - the globally accepted standard for web accessibility. Many countries, including Canada (Accessible Canada Act), Australia (Disability Discrimination Act), and others, reference WCAG as their baseline.

6. Known Limitations

We work hard to maintain accessibility across the whole website, but some areas may have limitations we're still working to resolve:

  • Third-party content - some embedded content from external services (such as video players or social media widgets) may not fully meet accessibility standards. We choose providers that prioritise accessibility and work to provide alternatives where possible.
  • PDF documents - if any downloadable documents are not fully accessible, please contact us and we will provide the information in an alternative format.
  • New content - when new pages or features are added, there may be a short period before they are fully tested for accessibility.

7. Feedback & Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the FotoLab website. If you encounter any barriers, have difficulty using any part of the site, or have suggestions for improvement, please email us at hello@fotolabai.com with the subject line "Accessibility Feedback". When you contact us, it helps if you can include:

  • The web address (URL) of the page where you experienced the issue.
  • A description of the problem.
  • The assistive technology you were using (if any).
  • Your browser and operating system.

8. Enforcement & Your Rights

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to resolve reported issues as quickly as possible. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to escalate:

European Union

You may contact your national enforcement body. Each EU member state has designated an authority responsible for the European Accessibility Act. A list is maintained by the European Commission.

United Kingdom

You may contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) or the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

United States

You may file a complaint with the US Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, or consult with a qualified attorney regarding your rights under the ADA.

9. Review & Updates

This accessibility statement was last reviewed on 24th March 2026. We review and update this statement at least once a year, or whenever significant changes are made to the website.
